Product details

The novel "The Molussian Catacomb" represents the pinnacle of Günther Anders' narrative work. The effort behind it dates back to the 1930s. A first version was published in 1992. This new edition contains, for the first time, all the texts that Günther Anders considered to be part of this novel. Molussia is a fictional country ruled by a totalitarian regime. The setting of the story is the prison catacombs. The novel explores the psychological mechanisms of National Socialism, but fundamentally, it addresses any form of totalitarian rule. The book is a masterful literary attempt to uncover the psychology of lies and truth. Bertolt Brecht had submitted the manuscript to a publisher, but Anders was unable to publish the novel in Germany due to the rise of the National Socialists. Hannah Arendt brought it to attention.
