The work by Föhrig describes, in a partly very humorous and certainly entertaining style, the pitfalls that a criminal judge may encounter at the beginning of their career, and demonstrates how to successfully and correctly navigate them. The work is structured around the stages of a criminal procedure, from the preparation of the main hearing, the main hearing itself (with an in-depth description of how to deal with the various participants), to the verdict, the execution of sentences, and finally to the quality management that has been introduced into the judiciary. It includes a foreword by former Federal Prosecutor Prof. Monika Harms. Regarding the new edition: The first edition received significant attention. It has been reviewed more than a dozen times in leading professional journals, as well as in regional newspapers and magazines. Reviews appeared, among others, in the NJW.
