The general part of the law of obligations regulated in the German Civil Code (BGB) deals with the legal provisions applicable to contractual, quasi-contractual, and statutory obligations. The authors trace the entire development that any obligation relationship may be subjected to and clarify the individual issues within this legal field. Additionally, the work addresses the content of claims for damages as regulated in §§ 249 et seq. BGB, as well as the problems arising from the involvement of other parties in the obligation relationship. The textbook conveys the exam-relevant core material not only through the law and the corresponding case law but also elaborates on the rationale and purpose of the applicable rules and their systematic connections. This not only provides important aids for argumentation in exams but also imparts a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
