More than 75 years after the start of the Holocaust, two journalists travel to the places that were once centers of Eastern European Jewry before World War II. What is Jewish life like today in Krakow, Prague, or Budapest? They speak with the last survivors, rabbis, community representatives, Jewish intellectuals, museum founders, cemetery caretakers, orphaned children in Odessa, and residents of nursing homes. They share stories of the respect and admiration that their life experiences evoke amidst the tides of regime changes, thawing, and repression, leading up to dissolution.
