About the Work

This work is a practice-oriented presentation of criminal defense before the district court. Even those lawyers who specialize in other areas of law may find themselves in a situation where they need to provide criminal defense. A criminal defense can be a "byproduct" of a civil law mandate. For instance, in the case of a traffic accident, one must handle not only the liability process but also a criminal proceeding for negligent bodily harm. Alternatively, a client who has come for advice on another matter might casually present a penal order against their son or daughter. This work offers a quick and practical introduction to criminal defense before the district court. It particularly addresses the important practical special procedures such as penal order proceedings and expedited procedures, as well as the regulations.
