Begegnungen mit Peggy Guggenheim
German, Stephen Moses, 2017Product details
Peggy Guggenheim (1898-1979) is considered one of the greatest collectors of the 20th century. By the end of her life, she was not only a legend but had also styled herself as an art figure. In Stefan Moses, she encountered a photographer who had the sensitivity, speed, and talent to capture and shape special moments of her self-presentation. He met Peggy Guggenheim in 1969 and 1974 in Venice, photographing her at various locations, including her private Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal (now the Peggy Guggenheim Collection). The magic of the images lies in the irony and eccentricity that give the pictures an ambiguous depth. Accompanied by an essay from art historian and curator Dr. Thomas Elsen, director of the Art Collections and Museums Augsburg.
