Michael Maschke empirically analyzes the living conditions of people with disabilities and presents the status as well as the current developments of national disability policies in the member states of the European Union. The study addresses the interactions between the EU's disability policy and those of the nation-states. Based on a comparison of national policies and a juxtaposition with the respective living situations of people with disabilities, conclusions and implications for the design of disability policy are derived.
