Bellaphon Records GmbH is a German major label founded on November 25, 1963, by Branco (Branislav) Zivanovic, based in Frankfurt am Main. Together with his wife Jutta Riedel, who operated a record store in Frankfurt, Branco Zivanovic established the Bellaphon label in the city. The primary color of all labels was a carefully chosen purple, and the company name Bella Phon is easy to decipher. The major upswing began when they acquired the then-unknown label Fantasy, allowing them to release all recordings of Creedence Clearwater Revival in Germany. At its peak, the company had numerous labels under contract, including Penny Farthing, Deutsche Vogue, Milestone Records, Barclay Records, among others. They were able to increase sales through supply contracts for the PX markets of the US military in Germany.
