Shortly after World War II, the painter Fritz Steisslinger sets off from the devastated Germany to Brazil. It is a journey to the country where his wife was born and where her family lived. He visits Brazil multiple times. The country becomes a refuge and an artistic revelation for him. In 1948, Steisslinger acquires a house and garden there, becoming captivated by the exotic impressions, lush vegetation, and the diverse people. Inspired by the country's variety and tropical colors, Steisslinger paints works that are unique in their artistic freedom and exuberance within contemporary art.
