Product details

Although considered highly effective, there is significant uncertainty regarding the use of exposures in behavioral therapy. Hoffmann and Hofmann present the current state of research. With numerous case examples, both the theoretical foundation and practical implementation into concrete therapy plans are conveyed. New in the fourth edition: numerous additions and a new chapter on social anxieties. Exposures are regarded as the method of choice for treating fears and compulsions. Nevertheless, many behavioral therapists do not apply them due to the uncertainty surrounding proper execution and the time required. In the approach of Hoffmann and Hofmann, exposure is not conceived merely as habituation, but rather as active coping and a positive learning experience involving the acceptance and tolerance of fear. They present this in a clear and understandable manner.
