Naturally, children need the preference of adults before they engage with poetry. Collections and anthologies of all kinds are good for this purpose. The broader the overview, the better. Hans-Joachim Gelberg has consistently made new suggestions with his well-known collections. With "Die Stadt der Kinder" (1969), a new children's poetry was introduced. "Überall und neben dir" (1986) is a collection that has had a unique impact and has since become a standard work. The new anthology "Grosser Ozean" offers a wide-ranging overview of both new and older children's poems. It also includes texts from modern poetry and a journey through world poetry that has hardly been used for children until now. A detailed afterword explains this connection.
