Winner of the Prix des lycéens autrichiens 2009. Hugo has moved to Mayotte, an island in the Indian Ocean, with his parents, who are teachers. He and his sister are struggling to adjust: poverty, heat, being white among children of color—it's all difficult for the young people to endure. After Hugo gets too close to a girl from Mayotte, he is sent back to France. The shock is greater than he expected. Hugo begins to reflect on what he did with his previous life in Mayotte. And what if he truly loved the girl?.
