Resilience has become a central theme in psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and families in recent years. The authors demonstrate how targeted resilience promotion can be achieved: in addition to the essential importance of fulfilling basic needs, they highlight the specifics of resilience development across different age groups and various phases of the therapy process. They provide concrete and practice-oriented insights into what constitutes resilience promotion. Since basic needs (in the sense of Grawe) form the foundation for resilience in this approach, they first describe in detail how these needs can be specifically fostered. Additionally, the authors address resilience and resource promotion across different age levels, from toddlers to adolescents, and discuss what to consider regarding needs and resilience in planning, initial conversations, and diagnostics.
