The author examines interdisciplinary whether the British composer Benjamin Britten can also be understood as a music educator. Starting from his pacifist fundamental attitude, she analyzes selected peace works from his oeuvre: from an unpublished composition sketch and his "true Opus No. 1," "Our Hunting Fathers," to the popular "War Requiem." Musical-dramatic analyses reveal pedagogical intentions. Building on this, the author presents perspectives for music education aimed at adult amateurs. The didactic concept developed for this purpose aims to enrich introductory events in concert operations and also make Britten's compositional principles accessible to those visitors who have no knowledge of music notation.
