With Max, Jakob, and David Bill - father, son, grandson - three representatives of constructive art are presented, an art movement that has continuously evolved since Piet Mondrian. The starting point is Max Bill (1908-1994), a Swiss architect, painter, graphic artist, sculptor, and designer, who, as a Bauhaus student from 1927 to 1928, inspired numerous artists of the next generations as a prominent representative of Constructivism and the founder of Concrete Art. As a co-founder, architect, and first rector of the Ulm School of Design, he revitalized the Bauhaus idea in Germany starting in 1950. His son Jakob Bill (born 1942) captivates with his paintings based on simple geometric structures and stripe compositions, which challenge the eye's reaction with vibrant borders.
