In a dense series of photographs, Willi P. Burkhardt circles Lake Lucerne, the cradle of Switzerland. Sometimes the photographer is just above the water level with his camera, sometimes he swings up over the surrounding mountain peaks and looks at everything from a bird's eye view. But it is always about the unique lake with its many basins and bays and about the mountains that surround it in tight and wider circles. The moods created by this unique scenery are manifold. The pictures give a constant alternation of storm-lashed waves and clouds or lovely pastures and forests. The photographs are harmoniously composed, but they do not gloss over anything and sometimes also show the human interference in the once untouched landscape. In this way, Burkhardt brings surprising aspects to a landscape that has become a cliché.
