Product details
Serafima Andrejewna was only four years old when the Holodomor began in her village in 1932. She recounts the misery, death, and even cannibalism resulting from this famine provoked by Stalin. Anatoli tells of a more recent tragedy in Ukrainian history, Chernobyl. For a year and a half, Igort traveled through Ukraine, Russia, and Siberia between 2008 and 2009 to capture the memories of the people. In his recordings, the Italian author skillfully combines comic miniatures, illustrations, and short text passages to create an always authentic and often harrowing portrait of Ukraine and its people. Another volume of Igort's travel notes from Russia is in preparation.
