The book portrays the colorful, adventurous daily life, as well as the difficult, poverty-stricken living conditions of young people who are typically found at the Berlin hotspot "Bahnhof Zoo." Their everyday life is significantly marked by material deprivation, an insecure housing situation, lack of prospects, and precarious to deviant forms of income. A counter-world to the prevailing daily drudgery is formed by the community of young people at "Bahnhof Zoo," which becomes a central place of life for many in the absence of alternatives.
