Career orientation is a challenge that companies can actively shape with regard to skilled worker recruitment. From this perspective, the authors examine the transition from school to work. After assessing and analyzing the situation in the training market and transition systems, they outline strategies and action options for businesses and companies. To successfully navigate the entry into professional life as a societal task, all stakeholders need new approaches and concepts for selection and support, as well as a new definition of vocational readiness.
