In 17 case studies, the German healthcare system is described and the changes necessary to achieve a high medical standard for all, as well as a right to self-determination, transparency, and fair treatment, are presented. Due to the pressure of economic incentive systems, there is a risk in medicine that the primacy of medical ethics and the freedom of medical therapy and decision-making are called into question. Ultimately, this leads to doubts among doctors and a rather pessimistic attitude towards their profession. There is an increasing desire to spend more time with individual patients and to have to "process" fewer patients per week.
