Increasing work demands must be managed with aging workforces. This raises the pressure to implement an integrated workplace health policy. However, previous activities by companies are often not sustainable and are poorly suited to adequately address new health issues—particularly mental health risks. Workplace representation could serve as a driving force for health policy, but despite their co-determination rights, they often do not fulfill this role sufficiently. This book aims to contribute to addressing such deficits by analyzing the potentials and barriers faced by works councils, identifying the need for health policy competencies, and proposing practical solutions based on expert interviews.
