Between Architecture and Psychoanalye
German, 2012Product details
Architecture and Psychoanalysis - at first glance, these two eminent fields seem to have little in common. However, upon further reflection, one realizes that there are obvious points of intersection between them that must exist, even if there is surprisingly little to be found on this topic in German literature. Since Alexander Mitscherlich's much-cited book "The Uninhabitability of Our Cities" (1965), connections from a psychoanalytic perspective have only been sporadically pursued, and even in architectural theory, bridges have been rather rare. This book aims to expand and deepen the exchange between the two disciplines. The editors were encouraged by a symposium organized by the Psychoanalytic Seminar Zurich in collaboration with the journal Hochparterre, titled "Transparency and Intimacy.".
