Jochen Missfeldt, born in 1941 in Satrup near Schleswig, takes unusual paths as an author. He began writing during his time as a flying officer in the Air Force, then studied musicology and philosophy. He published volumes of prose and poetry, and in 1989 released his first novel 'Solsbüll'. For his second novel, 'Gespiegelter Himmel', he received the Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize in 2002. He lives in North Frisia.
