The focus of this current fire protection commentary is on the so-called "hot" parts of the Eurocodes for structural design in the event of a fire. All content from the previous edition has been editorially revised and updated to reflect the latest developments in European standards. The fundamentals of fire protection design are explained for the areas of: concrete construction, steel construction, composite construction, and timber construction. The commentary on EC 6 for masonry construction has been newly included. In addition to the general principles of fire protection design and the regulations regarding actions on structures according to Eurocode 1, it also addresses general considerations regarding the safety philosophy of the Eurocodes and the calibration of the safety level based on the updated DIN 4102-4. The fire protection sections are explained individually and supplemented with notes. Numerous application examples illustrate the respective normative contents.
