Product details

Music videos represent a core area of visual culture, continuously generating new technical and aesthetic impulses. Particularly in the 1990s, a significant field of ambitious music videos emerged—triggered by the groundbreaking works of certain directors—operating at the intersection of short films, video, and media art. The four directors Jonathan Glazer, Chris Cunningham, Mark Romanek, and Michel Gondry, who are central to this work, engage with the relationships between space and body, space and movement, as well as space and music in very different ways in their videos. They continually invent entirely new visual worlds, ranging from dystopian, postmodern cities to utopian, virtual spaces, thereby reflecting on the boundaries and possibilities of spatial construction in music videos.
