This illustrated book about the independent Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is now available in its fourth, newly revised edition from 2018. It features current texts and photographs by Harald N. Nestroy, with a foreword by Matthieu Ricard. The diplomat and photographer Nestroy has been traveling in the country for 25 years. During these journeys, he has created a rich collection of photographs of this Buddhism-influenced land. In addition to images of the magnificent and largely untouched Himalayan nature and unique mountain landscapes, the wide valleys, and small villages with various styles of farmhouses, this illustrated book also captivates with shots of monasteries, temples, meditation houses, and dzongs in their traditional architecture, captured in often nearly inaccessible mountainous regions.
