The recent resurgence of the debate surrounding the Wehrmacht exhibition has made it clear that working with images as historical sources presents particular challenges. This applies to both historical research and history education. Our textbooks are now richly equipped with historical images. However, these images are still not selected, commented on, and interpreted with sufficient precision as sources. Images remain in people's minds and shape historical perceptions; therefore, it is especially important for students to practice a methodologically secure approach to them. This book provides assistance for working with images in history education. It offers a systematic, didactic, and methodological introduction for teachers. The numerous examples can be directly applied in the classroom.
