The topic of attachments and attachment disorders has gained increasing interest in recent years. This research direction, which emerged in the 1960s, has inspired many researchers and led to fruitful results. Attachment theory now has valuable insights from long-term studies and projects aimed at preventing mental illnesses in at-risk groups, allowing today's attachment researchers to provide much more precise answers than just a few years ago, for example, regarding the causes of violence, child abuse, or the consequences of divorce.
