The book "Biomonitoring: General and Applied Aspects on Regional and Global Scales" offers a comprehensive collection of 14 articles that address various aspects of biomonitoring and its connection to global changes. Over the past 10 to 15 years, research on vegetation changes due to various causes has gained significance in the biological and environmental sciences. In particular, the impacts of global warming present numerous challenges for vegetation science. The articles cover a wide range of ecosystems, including Central European beech forests, evergreen broadleaf forests in Insubria, thermophilic broadleaf forests, dry grasslands of the lower montane zone of the Ticino Alps, as well as alpine vegetation in Switzerland and Austria. The book is divided into three parts, discussing general aspects of biomonitoring, examples of applied biomonitoring in Germany and Switzerland, and aspects of global change in the Alps and the Arctic tundra.
