The significance of Hossdorf for the architectural developments of the 1950s to 1970s has only recently been recognized. Although he primarily worked as a civil engineer in the field of building construction, often in the shadow of the architects he collaborated with, his own distinctive style is clearly evident in these buildings. In his private institute, he established a dedicated model testing laboratory, where he developed innovative measuring devices, including complete computer-controlled testing and calculation systems, such as the globally recognized hybrid statics.
