After former IRA supporter Declan McIver nearly lost his life while trying to prevent one of the worst terrorist attacks since September 11, he retreats to the rural idyll of Ireland, awaiting the birth of his first child. To finally clear his name, he agrees to a meeting in Switzerland with American and British dignitaries, even though he knows it puts his life and that of his wife at risk. However, the north of England is soon struck by a series of bomb attacks, and an old friend and MI5 officer disappears without a trace. The attacks are just the beginning of an opaque plan that seems to involve Declan McIver as well. Reluctantly, but with no real alternative, McIver forges an alliance with MI6 to track down the masterminds behind the attacks and protect his wife.
