Pears, archaic rituals, organized crime - a story from the godforsaken south of Italy: Three friends from the mountain village of Africo in Calabria refuse to surrender to fate or the local mobsters. The sons of poor goat herders, who as children guarded wealthy kidnapped industrialists from the north in the dense forests of the Aspromonte mountains, seek to escape the cycle of tradition and hardship. Starting with small thefts, they enter the international drug trade in Milan - and become pawns of impenetrable powers.
