Evil is only recognized when Jane Rizzoli uncovers it. A woman is shot outside the home of pathologist Maura Isles. Detective Jane Rizzoli initially believes her colleague is the victim until Maura returns from a conference—exhausted but alive. Shocked, Maura, who knows nothing of a sister or her biological parents, learns that the body is her twin. Supported by Detective Rick Ballard, she begins to investigate her origins and finds herself caught in a bloody nightmare of greed and violence.
