Off to the blue, green, and turquoise... The wind in the sails and in your hair, the deep blue water beneath the keel, and the sound of seagulls in your ears... for many sailors, this is the epitome of freedom. The longing for the sea drives them time and again into the open expanse and to distant shores. Sailing around the world on a sailboat - sailor Mareike Guhr has already lived this dream. Even as a child, the family-owned sailboat was her second home. Today, her passion is her profession: as a charter skipper, she takes paying guests on her sailing trips and serves as a voyage advisor, offering help and advice. In 2012, the passionate sailor set off on her own catamaran, La Medianoche, for her circumnavigation of the globe, returning to her home port of Hamburg in 2016. On her 47-foot catamaran, she takes sailing sports journalists to the most beautiful corners of the world.
