This publication comprehensively addresses emergency and blue light driving, known as special and right-of-way privileges, for the first time. Focusing on police, fire services, and emergency medical services, it particularly examines the conditions for special rights as well as the use of blue lights and sirens, and, above all, the criminal law application area. Regarding the commission of traffic offenses during such drives, the effects of special and right-of-way privileges on criminal justification and sentencing have so far been completely unclear.
