When several private builders plan to create residential property for their own use, they come together to form a building community (Baugruppe). This phenomenon in the field of private housing construction is becoming increasingly popular. Various building community projects have already been implemented nationwide, allowing for the accumulation of numerous experiences regarding the opportunities and risks of this planning approach, as well as the formation of judgments and prejudices. However, the initiators and/or participants in building communities are still not well connected, which often leads to reinventing the wheel and repeating certain mistakes. This is where the Building Community Handbook comes in: it serves as a guide and resource for all participants (builders, architects, project managers) in all phases, from the initial project idea through the planning and design phase to implementation.
