The first step towards the legendary slogan "BMW - The Ultimate Driving Machine" was taken over 100 years ago, when on March 7, 1916, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG was registered in the commercial register. It is one of several seedbeds of the modern BMW AG, which, in the following decades, has managed like few other manufacturers in automotive history to find market niches that were previously unoccupied. This led to the creation of vehicles that, due to their extraordinary and sometimes breathtaking body shapes, have long become design icons, such as the sleek 507 or the legendary M1. To this day, the Bavarian premium manufacturer is also considered a pioneer in the introduction of innovative technology, both in engine construction and in the field of vehicle electronics, as exemplified in the generations of the 7 Series.
