John Cullen Murphy was the chosen successor of the brilliant Hal Foster. He continued the series until March 2004. The year 1971, when the last page fully created by Foster was published, did not mark the end of the relationship between Foster and his prince. Even until the early 1980s, when he was a proud 87 years old, he wrote the story, supervised the coloring, and created preliminary sketches. This period, known as the Foster and Murphy years, is now being published digitally revised by Bocola Verlag.
