The textbook "Ad fontes," appearing in its second edition, offers an optimal preparation for the Latin exam, particularly for students aspiring to achieve their Latin certification. However, Latin students, linguists, and those interested in the history of ideas are also likely to benefit from the problem- and concept-oriented foundation provided in this book. Despite its brevity, this grammar sometimes expands significantly and places concepts within a larger context to make them more understandable and memorable. This is achieved, on one hand, by incorporating a comparative and historical linguistic perspective. Furthermore, visually distinct excursions from the main text refer to philosophical-hermeneutical, rhetorical, and linguistic insights that can stimulate a deeper awareness of language and grammar issues.
