Product details

This book about the Sonderkommando Auschwitz reconstructs the dramatic events of the uprising of Jewish concentration camp prisoners against their SS guards on October 7, 1944, based on numerous, some of which are still unpublished, eyewitness testimonies and written sources. More than a million Jews were murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz. It was Jewish prisoners, members of the so-called Sonderkommando, who were forced to remove the bodies from the gas chambers and burn them in the crematoria. On October 7, 1944, the prisoners rose up against their tormentors. They set fire to the crematoriums with the gas chambers, killed the guards, and fled. They were soon captured and murdered not far from Birkenau. From the moment the first stone was thrown at the SS men to the moment the body of the last insurgent was found.
