What was life in the village and in the countryside really like in the past? Stories from more than twenty women and men who grew up on farms and often spent their entire lives in agriculture provide insights into this almost entirely vanished world. There is no trace of idyll or rustic romance. Harsh conditions and hard physical labor, but also joy of life, shaped everyday existence. Numerous photographs complement this reflection on the peasant existence of a bygone era.
