Product details
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the 1918/19 Revolution, Passau historian Martin Hille presents a compact overview of the development of Bavaria during the World War era for the first time. After World War I led to a deep division in German society, this division continued after 1919 in the struggles between opponents and supporters of the Weimar Republic. Due to the different course of the revolution and the intensified opposition to the centralist policies of the Reich governments, the conflicts in Bavaria were particularly fierce. In the wake of these conflicts, the rise of Hitler and the NSDAP occurred, which developed from a Bavarian to a nationwide movement starting in 1925. Even after the NS takeover, Bavaria continued to pursue political paths of its own, the main stages of which are discussed in this book.
