Product details
Reliable working aid for city and municipal councils. For the local elections in 2024, the current 9th edition of the proven handbook will be published, containing a collection of the relevant regulations for municipal practice.
Up-to-date. With this handy edition, newly or re-elected representatives will receive all pertinent legal texts: the municipal code, the municipal budget regulation, the law on municipal cooperation, the neighborhood association law, as well as the law on the establishment of the Stuttgart Region Association. Additionally, it includes the most important regulations as excerpts from the Basic Law, the state constitution, the municipal election law, the municipal election regulations, and the state civil servant law.
With a systematic introduction. The detailed introduction provides an overview of the legal changes since 2018 and offers a systematic insight into the structure and foundations of the municipal code. The author explains the various aspects and individual questions of municipal constitutional law and municipal politics.
With valuable tips. Tips for newly elected representatives complete the introduction. A detailed subject index facilitates the finding of specific topics.
Significant changes in municipal work. The author also addresses the innovations resulting from the COVID pandemic, such as the elimination of the attendance requirement at municipal council meetings. It is also new that homeless individuals who have their usual residence in the area of the respective municipality have been granted municipal voting rights. In the future, anyone who has reached the age of 16 can be elected to the municipal council, while the mayor can be elected by those who are at least 18 years old. The previous upper age limit of 67 years has been abolished.
Absolutely essential for: municipal representatives, mayors, and specialized officials in municipal administrations.
