The work of Pierre Bourdieu is, like that of the Frankfurt School, one of the most important critical social approaches. However, the mutual reception has been marked by misunderstandings and struggles for distinction. The contributions in this volume aim to address this by connecting both positions more closely than has been done so far. This also leads to new perspectives for a critical social theory of the present. Central common reference points include the theory of the subject or habitus, the analysis of power and domination structures, as well as the respective stance on political intervention and social movements.
