The transformation of a city from yesterday to today, presented through photographs and narrated by its citizens - a book with a very personal value of remembrance. Not only the major political contexts are history. The everyday lives of people are as well. This book offers a glimpse into the living environment of the residents of Heide. They share the stories behind houses and streets; they recount how they filled the city with life and how Heide has changed over time. The book is based on a series of puzzle photos published in the newspapers of Boyens Medien. Readers were asked to share personal memories, thoughts, and anecdotes connected to the depicted locations. Sometimes, the places have hardly changed over the years, while at other times, the passage of time has brought about significant transformations.
