The proportion of students with a migration background in German schools has become so significant that a better approach to this linguistic and cultural diversity is no longer just in the interest of individual students, but has gained societal relevance, for example, in terms of macroeconomic and labor market consequences. Despite educational policy programs, Germany struggles to meet the needs of its linguistically and culturally diverse student body. An above-average number of students with a migration background only achieve a secondary or special school diploma, or even none at all. Therefore, it is worthwhile to examine the measures through which Sweden and Canada are much more successful in enabling these children to have a successful school career: not only more targeted support but also better collaboration.
