In 1689, a girl disappears without a trace from a noble household in Radolfzell, but only the schoolmistress seems to care. Almost 200 years later, the poet Joseph Victor von Scheffel comes across a letter from the schoolmistress and wants to turn it into a historical novel. When the charred body of a young woman is discovered after a fire, Scheffel is convinced that it must be the missing girl. However, another girl has just vanished in Radolfzell. Who is the deceased? And is there a connection between the two cases?.
