For the first time, the complete correspondence of Friedo Lampe, the author of "On the Edge of Night," is presented. This includes the surviving testimonies about him and his previously unknown critical writings on literature and art. Friedo Lampe is considered an eternal insider tip of 20th-century German literature, with prominent admirers such as Alfred Andersch, Wolfgang Koeppen, and Patrick Modiano. His slim avant-garde work is entirely set in the era of the Third Reich, from which he remained completely distant and ultimately fell victim to. His first book, "On the Edge of Night," was published at the end of 1933 and was immediately banned by the Nazis. He was mistakenly shot by a Russian patrol on May 2, 1945.
