The writer Hanns-Josef Ortheil has repeatedly portrayed moments of faith in his autobiographical, contemporary, and historical novels, where the characters engage with fragments of Christian tradition. Sometimes these are experiences during church services, other times they involve readings of biblical passages, but the deeper questions about what faith actually consists of and how it manifests in everyday life also play a significant role.
