Ella is seventy years old and no longer in demand as an actress. There are no engagements anymore, not even for a minor role in a radio play. Yet Ella's longing for the theater knows no retirement. The stage was her world, where she experienced total identification, where she was loved and loved in return. Now, Ella lives alone. If it weren't for the children she tutors, she would likely have become very lonely by now. The Turkish girl Seda and the mute Sven bring a bit of life from the outside into Ella's apartment. And Ella manages to allow this. She teaches Seda not only the language but also some of the knowledge that is helpful to know in this country. Sven begins to trust her.
